Coworking Coliving Coworkite Mauritius is ONLY for a select, very specific, group of individuals. Those that drive (on the left side of the road) and those that Kitesurf. Of all the coworking and coliving trips in which I’ve partaken (Thailand, Argentina, Chile, Spain and Greece), Coworkite is by far, the least friendly and least organized.
Coworkite markets itself to those who want to be involved in a coworking and coliving environment, be a part of a community and enjoy kitesurfing. However, in order to enjoy this trip, you MUST already kitesurf and you must drive. If you want to learn kitesurfing, expect to take many days off of work and to spend at least 24,000 RUP (approximately $700), pay the full $2000 living fee and also rent a car. The location of the coliving is far removed from any type of shops or restaurants and the streets are unwalkable (no sidewalks). Additionally, plans are rarely honored as Kitesurfers are a group who change their plans as the wind blows. Expect lengthy conversations about the speed of the wind and kite sizes morning, noon and night.
Coworking Coliving Coworkite Mauritius – The Hive
The Hive is a clean environment that offers free coffee, however it is dark with little light and noisy, as residents are allowed to take calls at the communal desks. There is a bright upstairs area, with cafeteria-style tables, however, it is shared with the office next door and turns into the office cafeteria from 11-2pm every day. The locals are very kind and helpful should you need something – other than light. This photo is the Hive all lit up for daytime working hours.

Coworking Coliving Coworkite Mauritius – Guest House Tamarin
The guest house is a highlight of Coworking Coliving Coworkite Mauritius, with absolutely wonderful owners. Each floor has 4 suites with private baths and a communal kitchen. The owners, Gilbert and Sounita are lovely people who offer additional services such as cooking private meals (necessary if you don’t drive), laundry and taxi service. Housekeeping is done twice per week and the hosts could not be more helpful with their advice, recommendations and helping you get around.

Coworking Coliving Coworkite Mauritius Food
There are plenty of restaurants and fresh menu choices around Mauritius, assuming you have a way to get to the restaurants. The service is slow, even for beach standards, but you will eventually be served and the food is often worth the wait. None of it is cheap, but it certainly reasonable for the location and quality of the food.

Coworking Coliving Coworkite Mauritius is probably fine for kitesurfers, or those very dedicated to learning, but it is not a fit for any other type of location independent professional or digital nomad. Plans will change constantly depending on how the wind blows, the people are not into community and it’s a very "each wo/man for himself’ type of group. Unlike other coliving/coworking environments, where are comprises are often made in the interest of the community, Coworkite does not function this way.
Verdict – spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We have dozens of other amazing coworking coliving groups from which to choose.
